Dr. Lareef Zubair – Principal Scientist/ Engineer
Dr. Lareef Zubair works in the areas of climate, environment, adaptation and technological advancement for the tropics for the last two decades. He undertakes research on climate systems, adaptation approaches and uses these for generating practical solutions in tropical venues (Sri Lanka, Botswana, Maldives and Comoros). His work is undertaken through projects in partnership with decision-makers and other researchers and educators. Previously, He was a Postdoctoral Associate in Mathematics and Engineering at Yale University, and in Climate Monitoring and Applications at the University Consortium for Atmospheric Science. He has also been a Senior Lecturer in Engineering at the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka and a Research Fellow at the Institute of Fundamental Studies, Sri Lanka. He worked as a Scientist at the International Research Institute for Climate and Society (IRI) and is attached to the Columbia University Water Center. His undergraduate education was at the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka and his graduate work was at Yale University, U.S.A.
Mr. Muhulis Sadardeen – Director
Mr. Sadardeen has over 25 years of administrative, establishment and financial management experience in Sri Lanka (Matale, Kandy and Colombo) and in Qatar (Doha). He is from Matale and enjoys contributing his expertise to helping organizations navigate various challenges.
Mr. Tuan Hadgie – Project Manager
Tuan Hadgie serves as the Project Manager of FECT since 2017. He previously served as an Administrative Officer at the Gemmological Museum, Kandy, and the Institute of International Education Lanka, the Operations Manager and Lecturer at the Gateway Computer Center in Kegalle. He has qualified as an ICDL (International Computer Driving License) System Administrator and with International Pedagogical ICT Licentiate.
Ms. Fathima Shakira – Administration
Fathima Shakira completed her Personal Secretary Course at the National Apprentice and Industrial Training Authority Kandy, as well as the Microsoft Office 2007 Package on MCCE. She previously worked as a Trainee Secretary in the Science Dissemination & Education Unit at the National Institution of Fundamental Studies, Kandy. She has also completed the Certificate Course in Human Resource Management at Chartered Institute of Personnel Management Kandy.
Ms. Nipuni Alahakoon – Junior Research Scientist
Nipuni Alahakoon has been a junior research scientist at Disaster Services (DS) since 2020. She has been supporting various projects including climate communication, climate and dengue, climate impact analysis and research related to these topics. She leads the team producing weekly and monthly climate bulletins for Sri Lanka and Maldives. She has completed BSc (Hons) from Birmingham City University, UK. She has supported work on the built environment and construction previously.
Mrs. Milani Tharuka : Research Scientist
Milani Tharuka graduated in B.Sc. Surveying Sciences, specialization in surveying and geodesy from Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka. She is currently reading masters in LIESMARS, Wuhan University specialization in Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing. She has been an Assistant Lecturer Sabaragamuwa university of Sri Lanka nearly for four years. She also worked as the chief surveyor in China State Construction Engineering Crp.Ltd.She has engaged with research projects,surveying and geospatial data analysis at FECT
Ms. Sabra Ansar – Accounting/ Finance
Sabra Ansar, a graduate of the University of Colombo with a Bachelor of Business Administration (Accounts Special) and a CIMA finalist, has been working at our organization since 2021 as an external consultant accountant.She also works for numerous other organizations as an external academic consultant and as an external coordinator for content development.
Mr. Ushan Adithya – IT/ Web Development
Since 2020, Ushan Adithya has worked as a web developer with us. He received his Higher National Diploma in Information Technology from SLIATE – Kandy and his Diploma in Information Technology from ESOFT metro campus Kandy.
Ms. Dilrukshi Kulasooriya: IT, Web Development, and Climate Intern
Dilrukshi Kulasooriya has joined us to complete her Higher National Diploma in Information Technology IT – Web Development Internship at SLIATE. She is also studying Bachelor of Management Studies Honors (BMS(Hons)) at The Open University of Sri Lanka. She has received her Advanced Diploma in Human Resources Management from EIPEL Campus.
Mr. Yoosuf Razi : Climate Intern
Yoosuf Razi joined us recently as an intern after completing two years of a bachelor’s in Physics from American National College (ANC)

Ms. Anuradha Athawuda – Aquatic Sciences/ GIS
Anuradha, graduated in BSc Special Degree (Aquatic Resources Technology) from Uva Wellassa University in 2017. She has worked as Demonstrator attached to Department of Animal Science, Uva Wellassa University for 1 year. Also, she has contributed her service as a resource person in GIS short courses conducted by Post Graduate Institute of Science (PGIS). Further she is an open water diver (PADI) and has conducted research on Microplastics in the surface waters, West Coast with National Aquatic Resources Research and Development Agency (NARA).
