This web portal provides services for disaster risk management and recovery based on high quality research. For two decades, we have researched natural hazards that can lead to disasters particularly those that have climatic origins. We studied the vulnerability of people, livelihoods, economic activity and networks. In many of these “disaster” the natural hazards involves human driven vulnerability.
The hazards that are not natural such as explosions in waste dumps, as air pollution or even climate change is caused by technological activity such as poorly designed and maintained industries and vehicles.
Recently, we started working towards addressing manmade disasters such as from arson, sabotage, mobs, riots, violent extremist groups.
Our work builds on the staff, advisors and projects of the Federation for Environment, Climate and Technology over the last three decades.
